Eyelid Surgery
The most common eyelid malpositions are Ptosis, Blepharoptosis, and Brow ptosis. All of these conditions are reasons why patients may complain of "Droopy Eyelids".
Ptosis
Ptosis is a drooping of the upper eye lid caused from a defect in the muscle (Levator) responsible for raising it. Ptosis can be caused by aging changes, or rarely, by more serious medical conditions such as Myasthenia Gravis or Horners Syndrome. Dr. Erdahl is experienced in diagnosing the underlying reason for a patients ptosis, and in the treatment required.
Blepharoptosis
Blepharoptosis is a specific kind of ptosis caused by excess eyelid skin. Blepharoptosis is treated by a surgical proceedure called Blepharoplasty where the excess eyelid surgery is removed.
Brow Ptosis
Brow ptosis is drooping eyelid caused by a drooping of the eyebrow. This is a very common aging change of the face, but can also be caused by other conditions like Bells Palsy.
